Every year since 2001 (with the exception of 2020), we've invited our local first responders to visit the library and show us their fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles, answer questions, and meet residents in a relaxed setting. This will be our 25th year! Tonight, bring your family and
join your friends and neighbors to show your support for our local superheroes, try on some gear or check out the view from the back of an ambulance, and lots more.

Hard to believe the 2025 season is already coming to an end. Thank you for your generous donations all summer!

Did you know? About 70% of the library’s budget comes from public funding. The
remaining 30% is made possible by supporters like you—individuals who keep story times joyful, shelves full, and our doors open to the entire community. You can download this year’s Annual Fund letter from our Director and Board
of Trustees here [PDF], or pick up a copy at the library. Your support sustains the programs and services that enrich our community. Thank you for helping the library thrive today and for the future.

Do some fall organizing and help the Friends raise funds for the library! Whether you have jewelry that's outdated, broken, missing its mate, or just not your style, the Friends will accept it all month. Any type or condition. They now also accept silver coins, silverware & tea sets. Just pack your items in plastic bags and drop them in the locked container inside the library entrance. Thank you!

Borrow a birding backpack
Fall is a great time to hike or be outdoors in nature, and now you can add to your enjoyment by looking out for interesting birds along the way! The Lehigh Valley Audubon Society has gifted the library with two birding backpacks (one adult, one child), complete with binoculars, a
laminated guide, and a book to help you identify birds found in the Northeast. You can borrow them at the desk with your library card and head outdoors. Happy birding! And, don't miss the Oct. 11 event with the LV Audubon Society to learn all about our local birds. Sign up at emmauspl.org/calendar.

If you love nature, the color blue, beautiful art, or all of the above, then you'll love the latest ART@EPL exhibit featuring the work of Adam Crist! Adam specializes in cyanotype, a special photographic technique that uses the sun and harkens back to the 1840s. Go here to learn more about Adam's work, inspirations, and evolution as an artist, stop in to enjoy his work, and contact Sue Skoras of the Lehigh Art Alliance if you're interested in
taking some of Adam's work home. Sales from art exhibits benefit the library.

Join Sherry Baublitz of Lehigh Valley Health Network for an hour of chair yoga every month beginning Oct. 20! Chair yoga is a gentler form of yoga where poses are modified to be practiced while seated in a chair or standing and using a chair for support. It combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation,
offering similar benefits to traditional yoga, such as increased flexibility, strength, and balance, while promoting relaxation and mental clarity. Sessions are free and no library card is required. Please note that you must register for each session individually and space is limited. Registration opens four weeks before each session at emmauspl.org/calendar.

August private-funding update
The private-funding thermometer rose by $3,140 in August, bringing the total for the year to $90,192, or 58.5 percent of the goal. Donations, including those in the donation box, made up nearly half of the total, with contributions to the annual fund adding another $300.
Sales in the Friends' Book Nook added nearly $600, with 'library services' revenue of another $600 for printing/copying, lost/damaged books, and room rentals rounding out the rest. With four months to go, the gap stands at $63,988. Check back next month for September results. Your ongoing support is invaluable, and your one-time or recurring donations are tax-deductible. What's more,
many employers match contributions, doubling your impact! You can also support the library by volunteering, shopping in the Friends' Book Nook, or purchasing art from our Lehigh Art Alliance exhibits, to name a few. Thank you for supporting the library!
